Flow Components (Magic xpi 3.x)

A flow component is a component that you can use in your integration flow to provide integration functionality. Flow components can have connecting, adapting, converting, and processing capabilities.

The available components are displayed in the Component Repository and in the Components pane.

You can use Magic xpi flow components to connect to third-party products and enable integration in your organization. Flow components provide fundamental connectivity functionality and are highly customized to achieve the required integration functionality. Flow components enable integration with standard industry applications or products, such as Middleware, ERP, and CRM products.

Note:

Before using a component, you should first define a relevant resource in the Resource Repository. If you are going to use a component as a trigger, you should first define the relevant service in the Service Repository. There are a number of components that do not have a corresponding service or resource; in these cases, you would skip this step.

Components are provided for use in your flows in the following ways:

  • Out-of-the-box: These are components supplied with Magic xpi. You only need to configure these components for your specific integration project environment. Each component has its own configuration program and/or Toolkit so that you can customize the flow component according to project requirements. See the Magic xpi Component Series. If you want to add a newly-released component to an upgraded project, you should use the Component Repository's Add button.

  • Self-developed: These are components that you can develop for use in your integration project. You can develop your own components using Magic xpi's Component SDK. You can also develop your own components using any 3GL and then introduce the component to the Editor.

Note:

  • New out-of-the-box components are continually added to the Magic xpi Suite.

  • Magic xpi's standard components are located under the ifclib directory. These components are not copied under the project folder.

  • All components in the ifclib directory are installed when you install the Magic xpi Server.
