You can insert a new topology in the Navigation pane by selecting Business Process from the Insert menu. You should set the topology properties before you design the topology.

You must include at least one server in a topology.

To define the topology properties:

  1. Select the topology.

  2. Right-click and then click Properties to open the Topology Properties dialog box, which has these properties:

Setting

Description

ID

An internal identifier number generated automatically.

Name

Enter a name for the topology. This field is mandatory.

Description

You can enter a textual description of the topology.

  1. Click OK to save your entries and close the dialog box.

  2. Click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving your changes.

Note:

  • You can move objects in a topology design by simply dragging them to a new position. Magic xpi redraws the connecting lines to reflect the change.

  • You can add text boxes to your topology. From the Insert menu, click Text Area. You can minimize or maximize these text boxes by selecting either Minimize All Text Areas or Maximize All Text Areas from the Edit menu.

  • To check the properties of a particular topology, click the Topology tab. Then right-click Business Process in the Navigation pane, and select Properties from the context menu.
