W4 – Initialize Component (Magic xpi 3.x)

Before you can work with the W4 component, you must define the connection between the Magic xpi machine and the machine where the W4 Engine is installed.

When you drag the W4 component to the Flow Editor in the Magic xpi Studio, the Initialization W4 dialog box opens. To define the connection to the W4 Engine machine, enter the following information in the dialog box:

Property

Description

User Name

You should enter the name of a W4 “actor” that is assigned with the appropriate role to be able to execute the method.

Password

You should enter the password for the actor entered in the previous field.

Server Name

If you are accessing the W4 Engine server on a remote machine, you should specify the machine’s name or IP address. If the W4 engine is on your local machine, you should leave this field empty.

Instance Name

Enter the name of the W4 engine instance you want to connect to. An instance is either a task or procedure created in W4. For more information on defining an instance, see the W4 documentation.
