Select the Columns Screen (Magic xpi 3.x)

The Select the Columns screen provides a list of database columns. Select the columns to use for mapping your data. The columns look different depending on whether the database you are mapping is a Source or a Database.

Follow these steps to use this screen:

  1. Select a database column from the Available columns field on the left side of the screen.

  2. Click Add to move the selected column to the Selected Columns field. Click Add All to move all the columns into the Selected Columns field.

When you double-click on the columns in the Available columns field, they automatically move into the Selected Columns field.

To remove a column from the Selected columns field, select a column and click Remove. Click Remove all to remove all of the columns.

You can double-click a column in the Selected columns field to remove it (it moves back to the Available columns field).

Note:

  • When you remove a column from the Selected columns field it moves back to the Available columns field.

  • If you add columns to a table and the table is not in the range of the Filter Tables or the Starting Owner list (if this is so, then the first screen before the Tables in the wizard is the Database Definition Non-Supported Tables screen), then the columns are not re-fetched and the new columns will not be seen unless the table is re-selected.

  • If the column name contains a space, the name needs to be enclosed by square brackets in the last screen of the wizard, where the SQL statement is displayed.

  • Two columns with the same name, but which are in different tables, cannot be mapped to a Destination. In this situation, you should add an alias to one of the table names.

  1. When you have selected the columns, click Next. One of the following occurs:

For Source objects:

For Destination objects:

  • The Simple Interface Screen appears.

Note:

You can execute searches for columns in this screen by using Ctrl+F, which opens the Find Column dialog box. Enter the name of the column that you want to find. You can press F3 to find the next matching column. Case sensitive searches can be performed by checking the Case sensitive search check box. Wildcard characters are not supported.
