Security File Troubleshooting (Magic xpa 3.x)

Q1

Why am I getting errors, such as "SECURITY FILE - Could not open SUPPORT\usr_std.eng", when trying to open the Studio in a Windows 7 operating system?

A1

This is a limitation of the Windows 7 operating system. To solve this problem:

1. Right-click on the Magic xpa Studio icon.

2. Click the Run as administrator option.

Note: On some operating systems, such as Windows 8, the engine will not recognize mapped drives unless they were created with Administrator rights as well. An alternative for this is to install Magic xpa in a non-system folder, such as c:\magicxpa\.

Q2

Why does my security file get randomly deleted after updating it using the security functions?

A2

This can happen if multiple users simultaneously update the security file by using one of the security file functions, such as UserAdd and RightsAdd.

To solve this problem, it is recommended to use the Lock function before the update and the Unlock function after the update, so that the file will not be updated simultaneously.
