Scheduler Service (Magic xpi 3.x)

The Scheduler service allows you to create schedules for flow invocation. At deployment the Magic xpi Server uses the information in the Scheduler system to invoke flows at the required time periods. You define schedules in the Magic xpi Suite. The Scheduler service uses the same mechanism as the Magic xpi Scheduler. You activate the service by dragging the Scheduler service to the trigger area of the flow.

To use the Scheduler service:

  1. From the Component repository, drag the Scheduler service to the Trigger area of the flow you want to schedule. The Trigger area is at the top of the Flow Editor, and is marked off with a different color. When you drag the Scheduler into the trigger area, Magic xpi automatically begins to create a new flow.

  2. The Scheduler Properties dialog box opens. This dialog box displays a list of schedules in the left pane Name section, and various options in the Details and Interval Details sections on the right. The right pane contains the following information:

Name

The name that you give to the Scheduler.

BP

The Business Process where the Scheduler is located. This field is read-only.

Flow

The flow where the Scheduler is located. This field is read-only.

Schedule Type

When you want the flow invocation to take place. Select one of the following from the drop-down list:

  • Interval: Select this for user-defined intervals other than the three types listed below. For example, every day at 10:00 for one month.

  • Daily: Select this to schedule a flow by day. You can define the time of day and the daily frequency (for example, every two days) in this screen.

  • Weekly: Use this to schedule a flow by week. You can define the day of the week to execute the flow, the time of day and the weekly frequency (for example, every two weeks).

  • Monthly: Use this to schedule the flow by month. You can define which months to execute the flow, the days in the month and the time of day.

After you have made your selection, the options in the dialog box will change. Click on the options above for an explanation of the options for each of the schedule types, or use the link below.

  1. After you complete the scheduling options, click OK.
