Rich Client GUI Preparation Utility (Magic xpa 4.x)

This conversion utility saves the developer from having to design the form from scratch.

This utility helps you convert an Online task to a Rich Client task by:

  • Copying all of the GUI Display models to Rich Client Display models.

  • Copying the GUI Display style to Rich Client Display and GUI Display Table style to Rich Client Table for field models, columns, and variables. This occurs if the properties are broken (not inherited).
While copying GUI styles to RC styles, if the utility encounters 'User Action xx' events (which are not supported in a Rich Client task), it will automatically change them into a user event with the same name. This behavior will happen if such a user event is defined in the Main program.

  • Copying GUI Display Static models that have the Enable RTF property set to Yes to Rich Client Rich Text models.

Before using this utility you should:

  1. Prepare each of the components used in that project.

  2. Recreate an ECI file for those components.

  3. Reload the ECI file into the project.

  4. Back up your project.

  5. If your project uses a Version Control provider, make sure that you have the latest version and that no objects are checked out by other users.

You use this utility by doing the following:

  1. Open the Options menu and select the Rich Client Preparation option. The Rich Client Preparation wizard opens.

  2. From the Welcome screen, click Next.

  3. The Preparation Methodology screen reminds you how to properly prepare your project before continuing. If you already made the preparations described above, then you can click Run and a Progress section will appear at the bottom of the screen. This indicates that the preparation is being performed. When the process is finished, a Finish message will appear.
