Manually Installing and Starting the Magic Monitor Web Server Services (Magic xpi 4.1)

Installing the Magic Monitor Web Server Services

After the installation procedure has been completed, go to the <Magic xpi installation>\OS_Service\scripts folder. This folder contains:

  • Installation scripts for the Magic xpi GSA (Install_GSA_service.bat) and Magic Monitor Web Server (Install_MagicMonitor_services.bat) services.

  • Uninstall scripts for the Magic xpi GSA (Uninstall_GSA_service.bat) and Magic Monitor Web Server (Install_MagicMonitor_services.bat) services.

  • A script for starting Magic xpi services (Start_services.bat).

Next, you should:

  1. Open a command line (with administrator rights).

  2. Change the directory to the scripts folder.

  3. Run the Install_MagicMonitor_services.bat script. This installs the Magic Monitor Web Server services, and also sets dependency between them.

  4. Refresh the Windows Services window to verify that the Magic Monitor Web Server services are installed.

Note:

Before starting the Web Monitor Services, verify that the GigaSpaces-related settings (LOOKUPGROUPS and LOOKUPLOCATORS variables) are properly set in the run_displayserver.bat file found under the <Magic xpi installation>\RTView\magicmonitor folder. This can be done manually or by using the <Magic xpi installation>\Tools\MgxpiLookupUpdator\MgxpiLookupUpdator.exe file.

Starting the Magic Monitor Web Server Services

After performing the manual installation procedure described above, you can now start the Magic Monitor Web Server services. To do this, you should:

  1. Open a command line (with administrator rights).

  2. Change the directory to the scripts folder.

  3. Run the Start_services.bat script. This script is used by the installation when installing the full Magic xpi Suite, and also includes a run command for the Magic xpi 4.1 GSA service.

Note:

The output command line might display a warning that the Magic xpi 4.1 GSA service is already running. This warning can be ignored.

Alternatively, you can open the Windows Services window and start the Magic Monitor Display Server service from there. This will also start the Magic Monitor Web Server service, due to the dependency that was previously set between these services.
