MakeKey Utility (Magic xpa 2.x)

The MakeKey utility lets a Magic xpa user create a feature license that can be checked out and in by users of the Magic xpa project.

The implementation of this feature is done in two stages:

  1. First, the developer needs to create an appropriate license entry. This license entry will define the number of instances of the application. This license entry is generated using the Makekey.exe file, which is included in the Magic xpa installation. The MakeKey utility works best when run under the installed license server directory. To learn more about using the utility, see Using the MakeKey Utility.

  2. Anywhere inside the application logic, the developer can use the LMChkOut function to check out a user instance and the LMChkIn function to check it back in. The LmChkOut function will fail if the maximum allowed instances has been reached. According to the success or failure of the function, the developer can decide how the application logic should continue.

The Magic xpa Single User Edition does not include the MakeKey utility.
