Buffer Table (Magic xpa 3.x)
The Buffer Table is the interface between the host application and the component that assembles and disassembles a message buffer. The parameters that allow you to use the Buffer Table are:

Structure Identifier

Numeric (4). Identifies the buffer format.

Buffer Index Level
|
Numeric (4). This parameter is used for nested buffers. The top level is zero (0).

Order
|
Numeric (3). The internal order within the current buffer index level.
|
Nested index
|
Numeric (3). If the datatype is Message buffer, this parameter will specify the index of the Buffer Index Level.

Datatype
|
Alpha (1). The Magic datatype, which can have one of the values listed below:

Picture
|
Alpha (30). The Magic picture, which can be set using the VarPic function.
|
Storage
|
Numeric (2). The storage of the datatype. The valid values are listed in the Storage Types topic.

Position
|
Numeric (5). The value’s position in the buffer.
|
Length
|
Numeric (5). The length of the datatype, which is also determined by the storage. For Alpha values, this is the length of the string.
