Languages - Settings (Magic xpa 2.x)

Multilingual support (MLS) enables the developer to create a project using one language, and to deploy it in multiple languages without the need to modify the application file for each language. For example, you can write an application that displays text strings in English and also deploy it in French and German. Magic xpa multilingual support translates text strings based on a language-specific translation file that you created.

The Language repository includes the following columns:

Column

Description

#

The language identifier (#) used in the project. Magic xpa sets this column automatically.

Language

The language name. This is a text variable with a maximum length of 128 characters. This variable is case-sensitive.

Translation File

Full path and name of a language translation file to be used when the language is selected. Zoom to the standard Windows Open File dialog box.

The Starting Language setting appears in the Environment repository.

The following restrictions apply to MLS:

  • MLS does not support multi-line edits and Rich Text controls.

  • Strings used in a project that is set up to use the MLS system is converted from ANSI to Unicode.
