Internet Requesters (Magic xpa 2.x)
The Magic xpa Internet Requesters convert Internet requests to any requests handled by middleware that is supported by Magic xpa, such as the Broker. For Internet Information Server (IIS), the Installation Wizard creates an alias pointing to the Magic xpa installation folder. For other Web servers, the Installation Wizard checks for a Web Server folder and makes that the destination directory of the Internet Requesters. If the Web server is not located, a CGI requester is installed.
Note: When installing several Magic xpa versions on a Web server that does not support different dlls with the same name, it is advised to rename the requester dll.
When using a Web Server program, such as IIS, Magic xpa will make the proper changes in the Web server, such as adding aliases. If you install IIS after the Magic xpa installation, you will have to configure IIS manually.
When using Windows 2003 as a Web server, the IIS version is 6. This version has several new features; one of them is called Web Service Extensions.
When working with Magic xpa as an enterprise server for a Web application, two requesters can be used – CGI (MGRQCGInn.exe) and ISAPI (MGRQISPInn.dll), where nn stands for the version number. Both can be found in the scripts subdirectory under the Magic xpa installation directory.
In most cases, the ISAPI requester is used. When IIS 6 is used, a Web service extension must be configured for the requester; otherwise an error message will appear once the requester is accessed.
For more information, see the Allow the Magic xpa ISAPI on Windows 2003 IIS6 Technical Note.
