Incremental Locate - End-User Capability (Magic xpa 3.x)
An accelerated Locate facility is available to the end user in Query mode for Online tasks and Rich Client tasks. To activate Incremental Locate, you must set the Allow Locate in Query task property to Yes.
In Online tasks, Magic xpa moves quickly to the first row conforming with the first letter or first full number the end user has typed. The next character entered by the end user causes Magic xpa to park on the closest row conforming to the two characters.
For example, if you had a DB table in an online program that displayed supplier information in Query mode (Options > Query Records), you could type an uppercase T in the Supplier Name column and Magic xpa would locate the first supplier name starting with an uppercase letter T. If you type a lowercase letter o, Magic xpa would locate the first supplier name that starts with the letters To.
In Rich Client tasks, Magic xpa waits for a string to be typed and then tries to locate the string. Any incremental locate will access the server and refresh the task data view (as if a View Refresh was made).
Note:
|
The Incremental Locate operation simulates the Locate a Record action and adds the ??? wildcard characters, as the string suffix.
