HL7 - Trigger Configuration (Magic xpi 4.5)

The Component Configuration: HL7 dialog box contains the following fields:

Name

Description

Processing Mmode

Specifies how the request is handled. Select one of the following from the drop-down list:

  • Asynchronous (default): This option will return one of the following:

  1. An automatic ACK based on the arriving message.

  2. A user-defined ACK based on a preset value contained in a global variable.

  3. No response (No Acknowledgement option).

An ACK message is returned only after a successful flow invocation. It does not wait for the flow to end.

  • Synchronous: This option instructs the trigger to wait until the flow ends, and then returns one of the following:

  1. An automatic ACK based on the arriving message.

  1. A user defined ACK message based on the value that was updated in the acknowledgement BLOB.

  2. No response (No Acknowledgement option).

With the Synchronous and Asynchronous options, the flow is invoked by a BLOB data type that holds the HL7 message, and an optional Alpha data type that holds the message type (for example, ADT^01).

ACKnowledge Type

Select one of the following acknowledgement types from the drop-down list:

  • Automatic

  • No Acknowledgement

  • User Defined

ACKnowledge Message

Specifies the variable that holds the trigger's return value.

Click to open the Variables List. Select a variable to hold the return value, and then click Select.

This is available only when the ACKnowledge type (above) is set to User Defined.

Incoming Message

Specifies the variable that holds the message received from the trigger.

Click to open the Variables List. Select a variable to hold the message, and then click Select. This field is mandatory.

Incoming Message Type

Specifies the variable that holds the message type.

Click to open the Variables List. Select a variable to hold the message type, and then click Select.

To configure the HL7 component as a trigger, follow these steps:

  1. Define HL7 as a service in the Settings dialog box's Services section. For more information, click here.

  2. Place the HL7 component into a flow's trigger area to open the Properties pane.

  3. In the Setting section, select the required Service Name from the drop-down list.

  4. Double-click or right-click on the component and select Configuration from the context menu to open the Component Configuration: HL7 dialog box. Enter the relevant information.

  5. When you have finished configuring your HL7 trigger, click OK to save the settings and to exit the dialog box. Alternatively, you can click Cancel to exit the dialog box without saving your settings.
