Directives for Alpha Pictures (Magic xpa 4.x)
The tables below provide a list of directives for Alpha pictures.

A placeholder for any character.

Instructs Magic xpa to convert the character to upper case.

Instructs Magic xpa to convert the character to lower case.

A placeholder for a digit (0-9) or any of the following symbols ( . , - + * / ).
Note that during data entry, Magic xpa verifies that the user typed a digit in the positions held by #. Any other character typed in these positions is rejected and an error message is issued.`

Auto Skip
|
Instructs Magic xpa to move automatically to the next field when the user has entered characters, filling up all of the available space in the current field.
Type Y to add the functional directive A to the variable picture.
Default: No
Platform specific: This directive is not supported for mobile devices.
This directive is not available in Web Client tasks.

For variables with Alpha attributes, each X, U, L, or # directive defines the type of character. The sum of Xs, Us, Ls, and #s defines the size of the variable.
