Manually Configuring the Monitor to Access the Deployment Environment (Magic xpi 4.1)

The Monitor lets you monitor all the activities that take place at deployment in the Magic xpi Server. The Monitor runs only on the Windows operating system. Although the Monitor is included in Magic xpi Integration Platform, you can install it on a different computer for use at deployment.

To ensure that the Monitor displays the information correctly:

Server and Monitor Installation

The services of the new Magic Monitor need to be installed manually. For information about how to do this, please refer to the Manually Installing and Starting the Magic Monitor Web Server Services section in the Installation Guide.

Backward Compatibility

If you are using the legacy Monitor:

  • Make sure that the projects' ibp file, the folder name, and the %currentproject% and %currentprojectdir% entries in the ifs.ini file are identical (including case sensitivity).

  • Make sure that the Database configuration information in the ifs.ini (ifs.<project name> in IBM i) file is the same in the Monitor computer’s Magic.ini file. The configuration parameters are:

    • The Database identification (DB name for MySQL and DB2, Connect String for Oracle, and the ODBC Data source for databases connected with the ODBC protocol).

    • Server Name: The name of the machine where the Magic xpi Server is installed.

    • User: The user system name.

    • Password: The user’s password.

  • Copy the contents of the Project folders to the Magic xpi Monitor’s Project folder. Make sure not to change the names or structure of the files.

  • Make sure the date format in the [MAGIC_LOGICAL_NAMES] section of the Magic xpi Monitor’s Magic.ini file is the same as the format for the Magic xpi Server.

Monitor Only Installation

The Monitor only option installs both the new Magic Monitor and the legacy Monitor.

For information on how to do this, refer to the Manually Installing and Starting the Magic Monitor Web Server Services section in the Installation Guide.

Server Installation

If you installed the Server only, the services of the new Magic Monitor need to be installed manually. For information on how to do this, refer to the Manually Installing and Starting the Magic Monitor Web Server Services section in the Installation Guide.
