Demarcation Area (Magic xpi 3.x)

You can use the Demarcation Area tool to indicate where a group of activities and resources are interrelated to form a business process. This tool also lets you highlight locations, systems, areas, or sub-organizations.

To insert a Demarcation Area:

  1. Select the Insert menu.

  2. Click Demarcation Area.

  3. Once you have selected the tool, you then draw the Demarcation Area where required.

You can change the way the area looks by selecting the area, right-clicking and selecting Properties from the menu to open the Demarcation Area Properties dialog box. This dialog box contains the following fields:

Property

Description

ID

An internal identifier number generated automatically.

Text

Enter display text to describe your Demarcation Area.

Description

Enter a description of the Demarcation Area.

Application

Click to select an application from the list of applications available in the project. This indicates that the Demarcation Area is handled by the application that you select.

Font

Click to select a different font for the text that you can enter in the Demarcation Area.

Color

Click to select a different color for the Demarcation Area.

Text Location

Click to open the Name Location dialog box. Here, you can select where to place the descriptive text for the Demarcation Area. Alternatively, select a location from the drop-down list.

When you have defined the Demarcation Area, click OK to save your entries and close the dialog box. Alternatively, you can click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving your changes.

Note:

  • You can resize the Demarcation Area by selecting the Area and then dragging the sizing handle to the desired size.

  • You can move the Demarcation Area by selecting the element and dragging it to the new location.

  • You can delete the Demarcation Area by selecting the element, right-clicking and selecting Delete from the menu.
