Defining the Libraries as Databases (Magic xpa 3.x)
Each library on the IBM i platform should be defined as a different database in Magic xpa’s Database repository, as follows:

In Magic xpa, select Options/Settings/Databases to open the Database repository.

Select Edit/Create Line to create a new entry.

Enter values for all of the parameters according to the definitions in the table below:

Name

Enter any descriptive name for your library.

Data Source Type
|
Select DBMS.
|
Database Name
|
For an ISAM database, the name must be MAGIC in uppercase. For an SQL database, the name must be an SQL Collection/Schema Name created with the SQL/400 command CREATE SCHEMA <name>.

DBMS
|
Zoom to the DBMS list and select IBM i for an ISAM database and DB2/400 for an SQL database.

Location
|
Specify an IBM i library name created with the IBM i command CRTLIB <name>. Do not use any slashes in the library name.
