Database Server - Database Properties (Magic xpa 3.x)
The Database Server property specifies the name or the IP address of the RDBMS server.
An Alias is an alternative name for an RDBMS definition in expressions that is often used to shorten the name for subsequent reference in code, prevent possible ambiguous references, or provide a more descriptive name in query output.
This property is optional.
Relevant interfaces: This property is not relevant for SQLite or Local databases.
Platform specific:
-
For DB2/400 databases, this property is limited to 20 characters.
-
When you use DB2 and ODBC databases, there is no need to specify the Database Server property, because the DB2 and ODBC databases have a DNS (specified in the Database Name column in the Database repository).
-
When you use Oracle databases, enter an Alias.
-
For GigaSpaces databases, enter the lookup locator.
