Data Mapper Screen (Magic xpi 4.6)

Once you complete the file selection process, Magic xpi retrieves the information and displays the data graphically in schema form.

Note:

  • To map the data, you must first enter a Source and Destination and make sure that the properties are entered for each. If you have not yet entered the Source or Destination properties, click here for more information.

  • You can press Ctrl+F or open the right-click and select Find Name to open the Find dialog box. You can use this functionality to find the first node in the Source or Destination that contains the search string. The Find functionality searches either the Sources or the Destinations, and does not search both at the same time.

  • To expand a node, park on it and press the PLUS SIGN (+) or right-click on it and select Expand. To collapse a node, park on it and press the MINUS SIGN (-) or right-click on it and select Collapse. To expand a parent node and all its child nodes, park on the parent node and press the asterisk (*) button, or right-click on the parent node and select Expand All.

The Data Mapper screen lets you map multiple Sources into multiple Destinations. Multiple Sources can be used to create a single Destination and multiple Destinations can be created from a single Source.

The Data Mapper can work with existing XML Destination documents and append the new mapping to them.

To connect and test the nodes:

  1. Right-click on a node on the Source side, and select Connect.

  2. Drag the mouse to the node on the Destination side that you want to connect to, and click on it. A line is drawn from the Source node and connected to the Destination node to visually indicate the mapped data.

To make all possible simple connections between two nodes with the same name that contain simple elements with the same name in both the Source and Destination, select Connect All from the shortcut menu. All connections for all nodes with the same name in the Source and Destination nodes are made. (The prefixes are ignored.) These names are case sensitive, and must therefore be in the same case to enable a connection to be made.

For example:

  • If the Source node contains the simple elements:

    • Name

    • Address

    • Email

    • Phone

    • Cell Phone

  • And the Destination node contains the simple elements:

    • Name

    • Address

    • Email

    • Telephone

    • Mobile

  • Only these elements are connected:

    • Name

    • Address

    • Email
