Description

Creating a New Project (Magic xpi 4.1)

To create a new project:

  1. From the File menu, click New to open the New Project dialog box.

  2. Enter the project name. The project name cannot start with a number and cannot contain spaces or any special character.

  3. Select the required Project Data Encoding from the drop-down list. This determines the default encoding used for the output XML produced by the Data Mapper. The default is West European. (Since version: V3.2)

  4. If you want to use Source Management (Version Control) with your new project, select the Create project in Source Control database check box.

  5. Click OK to open the new project, or click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving your changes.

Note:

  • After you have defined your project information, Magic xpi creates a new folder in the Magic xpi/Projects root directory. The folder uses the name you entered in the Name field of the Project Properties dialog box.

  • When you set up a new project, Magic xpi checks to see if the name already exists. If the name is already in use, Magic xpi displays an error message prompting you to use a different name.

  • You can save your projects by clicking the File menu and selecting Save.

  • The Magic xpi Suite has keyboard shortcuts and a toolbar to simplify project creation.
