Check In Object (Magic xpa 4.x)

The Check In Object option is used for saving the current copy as the most recent copy on the central Version Control server. This option will only be available when your current object is in Checked Out status.

When you select Check In Object from the Version Control menu, the Check In dialog box opens. In this dialog box you can enter a comment for your Check In action.

If you are working with the Visual SourceSafe Version Control product, any comments entered when the object was checked out appear in the Comment field. If comments were entered but they are not displayed, this could be because the Magic xpa Version Control system was unable to retrieve the comment. If you enter a comment for a number of objects, when the objects are checked in, the single comment will be applied to all the objects.

The Check In dialog box also includes a Leave checked out check box. You should use this option if you want to save your copy to the Version Control server and then continue working on the object. If you select this check box, the Version Control system will first check in your object while leaving it checked out on your local machine, and then immediately check out the object again. If you do not select the check box, the object is only checked in.

If there is additional information for your object, such as comments, a login screen appears. If you click Cancel, the system will not display either the comments or additional information about your objects.

After performing check-in to an object, it will be erased from the local folder only if the update was successful.

ChangeSet

When performing a check-in while several objects are selected (multi marking), the objects are sent at a single call to the SCC API.

If the Version Control product supports ChangeSets, then all the checked-in files are seen in the same ChangeSet. This lets you see which other programs were checked in together with your program.
