Automatic Switch from Modify to Create (Magic xpa 4.x)
To activate the automatic switch to Create mode, you need to set the Allow Empty Dataview property to No.
Then, when the engine starts to execute an Online or Browser task whose initial Mode of Operation is set to Modify, if the specified Main Source does not exist, or if the specified range is an empty one, the Mode of Operation is switched automatically to Create. This saves you having to make a special case of the first run of a program that both creates and updates a data source.
However, an unexpected switch from Modify to Create Mode of Operation may occur if there is an irregular situation in the data source used as the Main Source. For example, if the data source is suddenly not present in the specified directory, or if its path was changed outside Magic xpa without a corresponding change to the data source definition.
