Auto Wide (Magic xpa 3.x)
This property determines whether to open the expansion window automatically, when required, in an Edit control. When you set this property to Yes, whenever a user is about to step outside the width of the current control or modifies the text in a way that will modify the text outside the boundaries of the control, the expansion window will automatically open.
After the expansion window is automatically opened, the cursor will appear in the same location of the text in the expansion window. However, when the expansion window is closed, the cursor will appear on the first character in the Edit field.
The Auto Wide property will automatically open the expansion window in the following cases:
-
Typing a character that causes the text to exceed the width of the control, either by typing from the end of the current line, or by inserting characters.
-
Manipulating the text that already exceeds the width of the control (Cut, Delete, Mark and Replace text, Paste, and Insert).
-
Marking text that exceeds the control width by either the Mark All event or by sequential marking (by Shift+Arrows, and Shift+End).
-
Navigating inside the text to reach characters that are beyond the control width (Next Character, End Field, and End Line).
When the mouse is used to mark an Edit control, it will only mark up to the last character displayed in the Edit control, and not the actual last character of the field.
