Attach to Server (Magic xpi 3.x)

The Attach to Server dialog box contains the fields described below:

Field

Description

Server Address

The address of the Server you want to use for debugging, including the host name and the port number in the format:

Hostname/Port, for example: ExamplePcXP/3333

The information is taken from the ife.ini file. The default is: [MAGIC_SERVERS]Default Broker = 1,<port>,IFS,IFS,120,,1

For remote debugging, you need to update the Server Address manually.

Server Password

The password for accessing the Server engine. The password should be identical to the defined broker password and should be edited only if the broker password was changed. It is recommended not to change the password.

Database Definition

By default, the Internal Database Details are set by the local internal database definition. You can select a different (remote) internal database using this combo box, which displays all database resources defined in the Resource Repository.

Note:

You cannot attach to a remote Server that has an internal database that is a different type than your local internal database.

  • By clicking the Resource button, you can access the Resource Repository and add an additional resource.

If the defined Server is not running, the "Unable to attach to defined Server" error message is displayed.

In this mode (the Attach mode), you cannot stop or restart the Server.

  • The Validate button allows you to test the connection to the selected remote database.

  • Clicking the Cancel button cancels the debug process and the changes made in the Attach to Server dialog box. After the changes are cancelled, the process uses the previous definitions.

Note:

  • To save the changes that you make to this dialog box, you must select the Save Debug Information check box in the Debugger Settings dialog box.

  • If routing is used in the project, you should select a server that will run the project. If you do not select one of the servers, the server information is taken from the local Magic.ini file.
