Adding an Application (Magic xpi 3.x)

The Magic xpi Suite supplies you with a number of icons representing commonly-used applications. You can add your own applications to the list of applications and you can then use these in your topology designs.

To add an application:

  1. From the Project menu, click Application to open the Application Repository.

The Application Repository includes the list of applications in the project on the left side and the application properties on the right side. For information on how to edit existing applications, see Modifying an Application.

  1. Click New.

  1. Edit the application properties:

Enter a name for the application.

Location

Enter the physical location of the application (for example, Main Server).

Icon

Click to search for an icon from Magic xpi's icons directory. Using an icon to denote the application is very useful when you want to view the various applications in the topology.

  1. Click OK to save your entries and close the dialog box.

  2. Click Cancel to close the dialog box without saving your changes.

When you finish defining the new application and close the Application Repository, the new application appears on the list of applications and in the Applications pane.

Note:

You can add as many applications as you want before you close the Application Repository. Click New and repeat steps 3 and 4 as many times as necessary. When you have finished creating all your applications, click OK to save them and close the repository.
