Description

Upgrading from eDeveloper V9.4 to Magic xpa 3.x (Magic xpa 4.x)

Magic xpa does not support eDeveloper V9's export file structure.

Applications from eDeveloper V9 should be converted to the new Magic xpa structure.

Upgrading an eDeveloper V9.4 application to Magic xpa 3.x is a two-phase process.

First, you need to upgrade your eDeveloper V9.4 project to a uniPaaS V1.0 project. This is done using the Conversion utility.

Then, upgrade the resulting uniPaaS V1.0 project to Magic xpa as described in the Migration from eDeveloper V10.1 or uniPaaS V1.x to Magic xpa 3.x topic.

  • Magic xpa provides a collection of wizards to easily upgrade your application, INI settings, and interface builder data.

  • In the Migration subfolder of the product, located in the Start menu of your desktop, you will find a shortcut to each of the available conversion wizards. Note that these tools are also provided with Magic xpa, so you do not need to install uniPaaS V1.x for the upgrade.

  • The , which lets you convert the data created by the eDeveloper V9 COM, WSDL, EJB, and MCI Builders to a Magic xpa project. Note: The COM and EJB builders are no longer supported. Since version: 3.0

  • The Magic.ini Converter, which lets you modify the settings in the V9 Magic.ini to be compatible with Magic xpa.

When upgrading a V9 application, the images attached to image buttons contain 4 images. In Magic xpa 3.x there are two additional states, so the default is now 6 states. You either need to change your images or set the value of the Number of Images in the Push Button Image List environment setting to 4.
