The CheckOut Object option enables you to execute check out actions on the flow or business process where you are currently parked. The objects that can be checked out are:
You can edit an object only after checking it out. Without checking out the object, you are limited to read-only access. Although the Form Editor will not appear to be read-only, any modifications applied to the form will not be applied if the program is not checked out first.

With some Version Control providers, such as TFS, the Version Control's behavior is Undo Checkout when you get an object from the Version Control history. This means that you must implicitly check out the object in order to work on it. In this scenario, the latest version will not be taken from the server, so you can continue to work on the outdated version.
